Rock Hill

 Rock Hill is the fifth largest city in South Carolina. It is located near the South Carolina/North Carolina border about 26 miles south of Charlotte along Interstate 77. Rock Hill is the largest city in York County with an estimated population of about 60,000 people. The city was originally named for a flint hill of rock that was in the way of the South Carolina Railroad Company’s rail line between Charlotte and Columbia. That flint hill has since been removed, but the name "Rock Hill" name remains. Rock Hill dates back to 1852 when the Post Office opened, but it was not officially incorporated until 1870.

Rock Hill is home to Winthrop University, which has become known for a strong basketball program but more importantly Winthrop has also been recognized by the Princeton Review as one of the "Best Southeastern Colleges". Winthrop was originally an all female institution then eventually transformed into a coed school in 1972. Rock Hill is also home to York Technical College and Clinton Junior College.

Rock Hill has a wide variety of housing for sale at prices ranging from $100k up to $1 million. The architectural styles range from older revival homes to modern, gated communities with shared amenities.
