South Park
The South Park area is centered by the intersection of Fairview and Sharon roads located near the south end of Charlotte. Originally, this area was a 3,000-acre farm owned by North Carolina Governor Cameron Morrison. In fact, Morrison’s main house, the Morrocroft Mansion, remains at its original location in the South Park area. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The South Park area offers a wide variety of housing styles, that include ranch homes within the Beverly Woods and Barclay Downs neighborhoods all the way to new million-dollar homes in other new neighborhoods. Each neighborhood within South Park seems to have its own individual style and flair.
Newer condo and town home developments have also been tastefully integrated into South Park, making it an extremely convenient, attractive area.
These neighborhoods surround the most important part of South Park: its retail and business district. South Park is the second largest business district in the state of North Carolina as it is occupied by up to 40,000 workers. Many stylish office buildings house many prominent businesses such as Nucor, Maersk, National Gypsum, and Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated. The South Park Mall is at the intersection of Fairview and Sharon roads. South Park Mall is considered the most distinctive retail area in Charlotte. The mall houses many upscale department stores such as: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Tiffany's , Pottery Barn, and many more. Many quaint, smaller shopping centers such as Phillip's Place, Sharon Corners, and Specialty Shops on the Park surround the South Park Mall.
South Park also hosts the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops series, which is located at the new Amphitheater at South Park. Other attractions include: movie theaters and upscale dining.
The South Park area has a lot to offer. Just picture this: walk from your home in a beautiful tree-lined, secluded neighborhood, stop for coffee to enjoy on your way to work at one of the many exclusive businesses. When it is time to go to lunch, walk on over to Ruth's Chris or any of the other exclusive restaurants. Stop to do some shopping before heading home to your oasis that is close to everything but quiet and peaceful. The perfect recipe for fine living. By the way, if you like to work out, there are 2 YMCA's also within walking distance. If you are looking for a home in Charlotte, the South Park area must be one of your options.
